How do I generate and save an AI lesson report?
The Lesson Report tool expands your instructor notes into a structured draft: a summary, skill and focus lists, and per-category ratings. Every field is a draft you review and edit before saving — the AI suggests grades, you confirm them.
The page header reads AI Lesson Report with the line Generate detailed lesson reports with AI-powered analysis. The flow runs in three steps: Input Notes, Review & Edit, Saved. Access requires the training:view permission, the AI module, and the Training module.
Steps
- Open AI → Lesson Report.
- On
Input Notes:
- Pick the
Student *.
- Optional: set
Training Type (Dual, Solo, Discovery, Checkride, Ground).
- Enter
Overall Instructor Notes * (minimum 5 characters). The field hint reads Minimum 5 characters. The AI will expand these into a detailed report.
- Optional: add short
Category Notes per category, or add a custom category.
- Click
Generate AI Report. While it runs, the button reads Generating lesson report… ~10s. A toast confirms AI report generated.
- On
Review & Edit:
- Edit the
AI Summary (marked Editable).
- Edit the
Skills Practiced, Strengths, Areas for Improvement, and Next Focus chip lists.
- Review
Category Ratings. The hint reads Review AI-recommended grades and adjust as needed. Click stars to override. Where the AI suggested a different grade, the row shows (AI suggested <n>). Add per-category instructor notes if you want.
- Click
Save Report. While it saves, the button reads Saving lesson report…. A toast confirms Lesson report saved.
- On
Saved, the page reads The AI-generated lesson report and ratings have been saved. Click Create Another Report to start again.
Notes
- The summary, lists, and grades are AI suggestions. They save exactly as you leave them after editing.
- Star ratings run 1–5:
Unsatisfactory, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Excellent.
- To review a student's longer-term progress, see [[ai-student-progress]].
