How do I check weather risk for scheduled flights?

The Weather Risk Advisor reads METAR/TAF for an airport and a date range and returns conditions, alerts, and a forecast timeline against your school's limits. It supports a flight-safety decision — it does not make the go/no-go call for you.

The page header reads Weather Risk Advisor with the line AI-powered weather analysis for flight safety decisions. Access requires the bookings:create permission and the AI module.

Steps

  1. Open AI → Weather Risk.
  2. Enter Airport ICAO * (for example KJFK, up to 4 characters), Date From *, and Date To *. The date range defaults to today through tomorrow.
  3. Optional: click School Limits (optional) to expand and set Max Crosswind (kts), Min Visibility (SM), and Max Wind (kts). Defaults are 15, 3, and 25.
  4. Click Analyze Weather Risk. While it runs, the page shows Fetching weather data and analyzing risks… ~8s.
  5. Read the results:
    • The Current · <airport> card with a flight-category badge (VFR, MVFR, IFR, LIFR), a Risk · <level> badge, and Wind, Visibility, and Ceiling.
    • Weather Alerts, sorted critical first, each with a time range and the count of affected scheduled flights.
    • Forecast Timeline, one row per period with a low / moderate / high risk badge.
    • Recommendations.
  6. To inspect the source data, click Raw METAR/TAF to expand the raw feed.

Notes

  • If a period has scheduled flights, the current card notes <n> scheduled flight(s) in this period and alerts show Affects <n> scheduled flight(s).
  • The recommendations and risk levels are advisory. Apply your own operating limits and judgment before dispatching.
