How do I block off time on the calendar?

Blocks take time off the calendar so nothing can be booked into it. Use them for closures, weather holds, maintenance windows, and special events. Manage them at Scheduling → Blocks (Calendar BlocksClosures, weather holds, and schedule blocks.).

Steps

  1. Open Blocks and click Add Block (or Create your first block if the list is empty).
  2. Fill in the block:
    • Title (required)
    • Block typeschool_closure, weather_hold, special_event, maintenance_window, airspace_restriction, or custom
    • Description (optional)
    • All day — when checked, the time pickers hide and the block runs the full day
    • Start Date & Time / End Date & Time — entered in the school's timezone
    • Affects all resources — leave on for a whole-school block, or scope it to specific resources
  3. Save. The block appears on the calendar and conflicts with any booking that overlaps it.

Validation

  • A missing title returns Title is required.
  • Missing times return Start and end times are required.
  • A date outside the allowed range returns Enter a date between ….

To edit, click the block's edit icon; to remove it, use the delete icon and confirm.

Faster setup

To block recurring time in one step, use a template instead — see [[scheduling-apply-a-template]].
